本节主要从计量分析的角度来考察我国对外贸易对我国经济增长的贡献程度，根据我国海关1980—2008年的进出口统计数据，以全要素生产率作为经济增长的衡量指标，对我国的对外贸易和经济增长之间的关系作了实证分析。实证结果显示，我国的对外贸易，尤其是高新技术产品的进出口贸易对我国经济增长的贡献巨大。
一、对全要素生产率的介绍
全要素生产率是反映经济发展投入产出效果的综合性指标，它排除了资本和劳动对经济增长的作用，是衡量技术创新对经济增长的贡献的一个重要指标。
