一道SAT的数学题 不懂什么意思

两个相差 1 的数的和为 T. 如何用 T 来表示这两个数中较大的一个数的值?
(应该是 'greater' 吧)
(A) (T - 1)/2
(B) T/2
(C) (T + 1)/2
(D) T/2 + 1

解: 设这两个数中较大的一个数为 x , 由题意可知 较小的数为 (x - 1) .
可得出方程
(x - 1) + x = T
2x - 1 = T
2x = T + 1
x = (T + 1)/2.
∴ 选择 (C) .

Sum是和，differ是动词的差，名词为Difference.
By是常表示差的介词，如increase to增加到；increase by增加了。
第一句话是：两个数之和为T，它们之间相差1。
In terms of是以什么表示的意思，如：
express y in terms of x : 用x表示y
express x in terms of y : 用y表示x
同样的意思，不同的表达：make x subject 用y表示x
make y subject 用x表示y
两个连续的数， 英文是 two consecutive numbers
两个连续的偶数，英文是 two consecutive even numbers
两个连续的奇数，英文是 two consecutive odd numbers
两个连续的3的倍数，英文是 two consecutive multiples of 3

第二句话是：用T表示较大的数。
Let the two numbers be X - 1 and X respectively,(设两数分别为X-1和X)
X - 1 + X = T, 2X = T + 1, So, X = (T + 1)/2
Ans : C
