降水是一个主要气候因子,降水量的多少和时空分布,直接影响到农牧业生产、生态环境、居民生产生活和社会经济的发展。收集整理降水资料,分析总结降水特征,摸索降水规律,预防和化解干旱洪涝灾害，指导服务农牧业生产和各项经济建设,顺应自然规律,变被动防御为主动适应,是一项意义十分重要的工作。
本文利用铁岭市4个雨量站1957～2006年降水资料，运用统计计算和频率分析的方法，对铁岭市降水演变特征、最大一日降水、降水距平、降水频率、降水空间分布特征等进行了分析和探讨。结果表明：50年来沈阳市年降水量呈现下降的趋势，铁岭市50年平均年降水量为638.92mm；水量年际年内变化极不均匀，汛期（6-9月）的降水量占年降水量的77%左右；降水空间分布呈西北低、东南高的特征；
