本次设计是CJK6150数控车床的横向进给系统设计，该类车床属于经济型的数控车床，所以，在设计中采用的是开环伺服系统，开环系统是伺服机械装置的最简单形式，他们的特点是缺乏反馈系统，也就是说，一旦发出控制信号，没有与控制信号行为一致的检测装置。在开环控制系统中，常用步进电动机作为执行元件，步进电动机是一种将脉冲信号转换成机械角位移的电磁机械装置，因为所用的电源是脉冲电源，所以也叫做步进马达。步进电动机的驱动装置是由脉冲分配器和功率放大器组成，驱动装置是将变频信号源送来的脉冲信号及方向信号自动地循环供给步进电动机的各相绕组，以驱动步进电机旋转，变频信号源可以提供频率信号及连续可调的脉冲信号发生器。因此，只要控制输入电脉冲的数量及频率就可精确地控制步进电动机的转角及转速。
本次设计中横向脉冲当量为0.005mm/脉冲，驱动元件采用90BYG350A步进电机，传动系统采用滚珠丝杠。针对实际情况，选用MCS-51系列单片机作为数控控制系统。
