The aim of this work was to study the effect of
drying on the structuring of cement based materials and
their consequences on the development of length
changes. More precisely, we were interested in materials
subjected to a preferential direction of drying
starting from the top surface.
An experimental program was designed to investigate
the connection between water content and
stress development in material applied to a nonadhesive
substrate. The influence of the addition of
polymer to the mix was also analyzed. This paper
presents the methodology and the experimental
procedures developed to characterize the gradients
of properties together with the results obtained.
