应该改成：I was on the point of falling asleep when you rang
sleeping表示“睡着的”，是一个状态；
go to bed表示一个动作，on the point of 后面加动作比较合适

用sleeping不对，on the point of 后面不能接持续性动词，sleeping是睡着的意思
