书上规定要用到stays home 这个短语,没办法,不能用staying home or stay at home 啊!

对，home 可以是副词，修饰动词。万万不可加at.
和 home 一样的方位副词常用的还有here there等
he stays home.
he stays at school.
i went there
i went to school.

这句话是对的,home是可以当副词的.
