No US Beef Imported Yet
The health departments says local shops and restaurants are playing it safe
and not importing any potentially dangerous beef from the United States.
Department of Health officials say that despite a lifting of a ban on
American bone-in beef, ground beef, and beef offal on November 2nd, as of
last night, no such beef products have been imported and inspected at
customs.
A DOH spokesman said while bone-in beef is considered to be low-risk, it
looks like local businesses are not taking any chances for now.
The spokesman noted that if beef were to be brought into the country, the
importer would have to produce Quality System Assessment certification, among
other documentation.
