比较级+than to do的用法

帮忙讲解一下。这有三个句子麻烦以此为例~You ought to know better than to go swimming on such a cold day . I have more sense than to tell him about our plan .
不是要当固定句型来记的啊…只是恰好这样两个句子…

这两个句子都是口语中的句子。

第一句话的意思是“你应该知道这么冷的天不适合游泳".第二句是”我还不至于糊涂到把我们的计划告诉他“

你可以把“You ought to know better than to do sth"（你应该知道不应做某事）及 "I have more sense than to do sth" （我没有做某事）当作固定句型来记。
