随着二十一世纪的到来，信息化技术已经深入到社会生活的各个方面，直接影响和彻底改变着人们的工作、学习、生活的方式和质量。目前人们对于计算机系统使用的自动化与互动性的需求愈来愈多，对于公共管理系统的智慧性、开放性的期望愈来愈高，人们在使用、查询和管理信息资源时，迫切需要有一种快捷、简便、先进的查询管理工具，能让管理员从繁重的工作中解脱出来，使管理员在使用一个软件后能够极其容易地对信息资源进行准确无误的管理，轻松自如，为了顺应这一时代要求，在科研机构，学校实验室中研制一套实验设备的管理系统，是非常实用和必要的。
实验设备管理系统是典型的信息管理系统(MIS)，其开发主要包括后台数据库的建立和维护以及前端应用程序的开发两个方面。对于前者要求建立起数据一致性和完整性强，数据安全性好的库。而对于后者则要求应用程序功能完备，易使用等特点。因此笔者结合实验设备管理系统的要求，在本文中，首先介绍了系统的开发背景和系统的开发目标，其次， 对系统的需求分析进行了介绍，接着对系统总体进行了分析与设计，主要包括对系统结构、系统数据库的分析与设计。全面介绍了所使用的access数据库技术和VB开发语言。详细介绍了实验设备管理系统从需求分析，数据库设计，总体设计，详细设计的全部过程，并提供了本系统的使用说明书。对其中的问题，产生的原因进行了综合分析，对开发过程中的感受、得到的经验进行了总结，并对该系统给予了客观的评价。
