Guangzhou is located in the south part of China, middle of Guangdong province. Its south is the South China Sea, north is Mount Baiyun, with the Pearl River flowing through the city proper.

Situated in South China and adjacent to Hong Kong and Macao, Guangzhou has another three names-“City of Flower”, “City of Rice Ear” and “ City of Rams”, with a permanent population of over 10 million.

With a history of over 2800 years, Guangzhou is an old city. Since the Qin and Han dynasties, Guangzhou consistently appeared three local feudal regimes, i.e. Southern Yue, Southern Han and Southern Ming, which were historically called ‘the three Southern regimes’, and ten emperors of the three regimes setting capitals here, with the whole Lingnan area as their reigning range. Capital’s construction provided a basis for its development.
