与过去事实相反
从句的谓语用had+过去分词，主句的谓语用would(should) have+ 过去分词。
给出的例句：
If you had previewed the text, you wouldn’t fail to answer the question.
这句话中“wouldn't”后面的have呢？
我觉得是混合虚拟语气，它举例比较不怎么恰当，但是这句话没有错。
例如：If I were you，I wouldn't have told him the truth.
Now he is unhappy.
如果我是你的话，我是不会告诉他事实真相的。现在他不高兴了。
If you had previewed the text, you wouldn’t fail to answer the question.
前半句是对过去的虚拟，后半句是对将来的虚拟，也可以理解为混合虚拟： 如果你已经（过去）预习过这篇课文，你就（即将）不会答不出这个问题。

这句话就是缺少have就不对了呀。
应该是”If you had previewed the text, you wouldn’t have
failed to answer the question.
再举个例子：
if i had known there was a English column at bai du, i would not have answered questions at dining column.
(如果我早知道百度里还有英语栏目，我就不会在饮食栏目回答问题啦)

wouldn't位于从句里。。
