本书是在第二版的基础上修订而成的.知识产权为私权.知识产权是民法的组成部分.知识产权法学既是民法学科的重要分支,也是相对独立的部门法学.本书旨在构建一个知识产权法的知识体系,停驶注重知识产权法与民法的结合.本书阐述了知识产权的基本概念、保护对象、主要构成、私权属性、与民法的从属关系以及社会功能；结合我国法律，系统解读了著作权法、专利法、商标法、反不正当竞争法的理论和基本制度；对保护知识产权的主要国际公约和多边条约的原则和内容作了适度的解说。
第三版对第二版作了相当大的修正，主要是：导论部分加重了关于知识产权法为财产法，属于民事普通法的描述，提出知识产权法应编撰入民法典的主张；著作权法编增加了对信息网络传播权的解说，修正了著作权不属于夫妻共同财产的观点等；专利法编吸收了为我国第三次修改专利法所作出的研究成果，修正了“在产品或包装上注明专利标记的权利”为专利权的内容的提法等；商标法编加强了基本理论的阐述，增加了新的法律法规的介绍，删减了部分涉及商标行政的内容，对有争议的问题作了探讨；反不正当竞争法编删除了与知识产权无关的内容，调整为与知识产权有关的反不正当竞争，并注重了金额不能理论与制度的阐释。全书既保持了注重学科的基础性、科学性、体系性和稳定性的传统，又注重吸收我国修改专利法、著作权法和商标法后近五年来的新的研究成果。
《知识产权法》是法学专业的核心课程。本书可作为高等学校法学专业的教科书，也可为其他专业选用和社会读者使用。
