关于句子which的问题

这里的in places which很让我困惑啊,in places,的places就指mountains and plains,rivers and streams呢还是另外的地址?而Which又究竟指代什么,有请高人指点.......
我主要是不明白为什么要用in

in which 就相当于where,place修饰which.which 指那些地点，mountain什么的。

这是个定语从句.
in places which表示"通过上面所提到的..."

which 引导的是定语从句，which在定语从句中充当动词see的宾语，来修饰定语从句的先行词places。in places which,probably,we shall see with our own eyes的汉语意思是：在我们亲眼看不到的地方。
