"Students often watch English speaking movies in their leisure time.
However, without the learning habit to listen to the English
conversations between the characters, students rely heavily on the
Chinese subtitles and thus lose the chance to train their English
listening comprehension. Furthermore, without the habit to do
research on the cultural background of the movie, students cannot
fully understand the main theme of the movie and thus lose the
chance to grasp the deep cultural meaning conveyed in the movie.
Therefore, it is the goal of this project to (1) guide our students to
really understand the verbal meaning of the English conversations in
the movie, along with its cultural background knowledge, and to (2)
enrich our students' understanding of other cultures and the events
happening to other people around the world."
