考场排座系统是一个教育单位不可缺少的部分,它的内容对于学校的决策者和管理者来说都至关重要。尤其人数众多的大学，考场座位排序是至关重要而且工作量也是很庞大的。在大型的考试中，组织者编排座位是需要把相熟悉的考生座位分开，以避免串通舞弊。所以考场排座系统应该能够为用户提供方便快捷的排序座位的手段。但一直以来人们使用传统人工的方式进行座位排序，这种人工方式存在着主观性，同时效率低,保密性差,质量差,另外由于随时变换的数据,将产生大量的工作量,这对于组织者带来了不少的困难。而简单地随机编排座位具有一定偶然性，不能保证将相熟悉考生分开。
随着科学技术的不断提高,计算机科学日渐成熟,其强大的功能已为人们深刻认识,它已进入人类社会的各个领域并发挥着越来越重要的作用。作为计算机应用的一部分,使用计算机对考场排座形同,具有着手工排序所无法比拟的优点.例如:排序迅速、查询方便、可靠性高、存储量大、保密性好、寿命长、成本低等。这些优点能够极大地提高排序座位的效率.
本系统是在概括和总结对编排座位算法的研究下、数据库技术支持下完成的。该系统的应用可以减轻工作人员的劳动强度，提高工作效率与管理水平，具有很大的使用价值。
