我国经过20多年的探索和努力，特别是加入WTO和树立科学发展观后，国际直接投资(FDI)特别是跨国公司的国际直接投资在我国经济中发挥着越来越重要的作用，成为我国经济中极其活跃的组成部分。作为一个连续数十年经济迅速增长的发展中国家，中国已经连续几年成为世界上吸引国际直接投资最多的国家之一。伴随着中国市场经济地位的不断巩固，法律制度的不断健全，以及国内市场开放程度的提高，中国引进FDI的前景更加看好，而中国利用FDI也呈现出新的趋势。
本文在总结大量历史文献的基础上，首先通过阐述国际直接投资发展的新态势，继而对我国吸引对外直接投资的现状及问题进行了分析，最后从中国引进外资的现状出发，根据国际直接投资总体发展趋势和跨国公司发展的新特点及其影响，对中国未来吸引外资的方向、政策措施和企业的准备提出了相应的对策。
