Although there are some studies on the optical properties of HfO2 , on the other hand, the reported optical properties are diverse and need further investigations.
其实，真的，可以说，多余了。因为“although”出现的句子，在英文中，默认后半个分句已经有了“但是”的意思，连“but”都不能再出现。这个句子明显是翻译中文论文，想说的是以前研究的局限，从中文推断，一般翻译可能会想用“however”或者“on the other hand”一类的表达，来表示转折，但是，英文的习惯是，用一个“although”或者一个“but”就够了，其他的转折语气都多余，顶多能接受的只是一个“yet”，但是现在就连“yet”也很不常用了。开头一个“although”足够了。
就是表示另一方面嘛...和语文中的并列连词一个作用...
不算多余的！
