是不是很多连词只是连接两句话，而这两句话并不起到主从句的作用。比如
I was under the impression that he was a very slow boy until he succeeded in writing a big book.
我们不能说until he succeeded in writing a big book.这句是前面那句的从句吧。
他们之间只是用until连接起来形成一句话，使得结构更加紧密。

until 所引导的是一个状语从句，表示这件事情发生的时间。意思就是，在他写成那本书后，我才改变了对他的印象，以前我还以为他是个很拖沓的人呢。

在这里until所连接的两句话是有主从关系的，后面是从句，前面是主句。

当然有些连词所连接的两句话是没有主从关系的，比如and，例句：

I love her，and she loves me too.前后两部分是并列的。

1 并列连词与并列结构

并列连词引导两个并列的句子。
1) and 与or
注意：and 还可以和祈使句或名词词组连用表示条件。（or也有此用法）

Make up your mind, and you'll get the chance.
= If you make up your mind, you'll get the chance.
One more effort, and you'll succeed.
= If you make one more effort, you'll succeed.

2) both …and 两者都
She plays (both) the piano and the guitar.

3) not only…but (also), as well as不但…而且）
She plays not only the piano, but (also) the guitar.

注意： not only… but also 关联两个分句时，一个分句因有否定词not 而必须倒装。
Not only does he like reading stories, but also he can even write some.

4) neithe…nor 意思为"既不……也不……"谓语动词采用就近原则，与nor后的词保持一致。
