Probably the simplest awy to define a force is to say that it is a push or a pull.However,when we speak of a force being reponsible for motion, it is not enough for us to tell only its magnitude if we want to know what result it will cause. So if there are two pulling forces of equal magnitude,the result they bring about will have to depend upon the direction in which they are applied.
