3.2. Pull-out tests
Pull-out test is the most common test in rock bolting practices. The aim of this test is to find out the holding capacity of the bolt system (bolt material, bolt–grout interface and grout–host material interface) under vertical loading. Load-carrying capacity of the bolt systemunder tension represents the shear bond strength ofthe bolt–grout and grout–rock interface. Pull-out tests were carried-out to enlighten the anchorage capacity of the selected composite tendons. In order to evaluatethe field behaviour of the tendon, steel pipe was used to simulate the borehole. It is realized that the use of steel pipe to simulate the host medium is justified ifthe host material is hard in nature (e.g. rock, concrete, If the bolt surrounding medium is of soft nature,the outlined approach is not valid.
