水陆画是举行“水陆法会”时悬挂的大型宗教人物画。该画原藏于洛川县南50公里土基镇铁炉村兴平寺，系民间佚名画师于康熙三十年（公元1691年) 完成功德。
此画用矿物质颜料精工绘制，虽历时三百多年，大部分颜色仍鲜亮如故，为目前国内同类题材所罕见。民间画师设色用笔大胆泼辣，无宫院文人矫揉造作之气。画面构图丰满严谨，笔力刚劲细腻，线条流畅。设色中大量使用重彩勾填，描金漓银等手法，画面色彩对比鲜明，装饰性极强。它融佛、道、儒为一体，内容十分丰富，对研究宗教信仰和民间绘画有重要参考价值,同时也是难得的艺术珍品。
