多用表利用单片机的控制、运算功能，根据离散积分公式及离散傅立叶变换，基于对电力系统参数进行交流采样的思想，实现了同时对一路工频交流电的频率、电压有效值、电流有效值的测量。用软件计算分析出有功功率、无功功率、功率因数、电压基波有效值、电压总谐波有效值等参数，利用数字电位器，使系统具有自校准、自动量程转换功能。系统充分发掘了单片机的运算能力，以软件代替硬件电路，使硬件电路大大简化。

本系统利用了数字电位器调节准确方便，使用寿命长，受外部环境影响小，性能稳定等特点，设计的电路具有自校准、量程可自动转换、测量精度高、性能稳定等特点。
