以EXCEL为计算工具来进行锅炉热力计算是基于它强大的数据表格功能和公式输入功能，而EXCEL内置的VBA编程工具又使得它可以把图形用公式进行拟合，让有些需要查图的数据更容易被得到以及结果更精确。它的图像生成功能又可以把数据的变化趋势以更直观的型式展现出来，方便对数据分析。通过EXCEL软件对锅炉各个受热面进行热力计算实现了锅炉热力校核计算的半自动化，提高了运算的速度与结果的准确性。
本文以上海锅炉厂1971年制作的935吨/时的直流炉为计算对象，以锅炉机组热力计算标准方法为基础，结合近年来锅炉行业的最新研究成果，并利用现代化的办公软件EXCEL，对300MW直流锅炉进行了多个工况的热力计算并在对一些参数的计算公式进行了优化，最后对计算得到的数据进行了研究与分析，为锅炉运行的安全性与经济性提供参考。
